Metropolitan Interdenominational Church
Reverend Edwin C. Sanders, II
Senior Servant
Metropolitan Interdenominational Church held its first Sunday celebration on
February 1, 1981. From its inception, this congregation has attracted a broad cross-section of people cutting across all of the barriers that fragment and
divide the body of Christ. This community of believers is known for being
inclusive, reconciling, and engaged. Because the church has too often allowed particular aspects of a person’s being to define them out of the circle of fellowship, we have chose to emphasize the “whosoever” in John 3:16 as a mandate
for inclusion.
In the same spirit of lifting up Gospel directives, we are
committed to “loving our neighbors as we love ourselves” (Mark 12:29-31),
and “loving our enemies” (Luke 6:27), thus always working for reconciliation.
Likewise, we are commissioned to go to the “uttermost parts of the world” (Acts 1:8)
to engage and share with all the good news of God’s liberating power. This
directive requires taking the gospel everywhere it needs to be heard whether
it be in crack houses, state houses, flop houses, court houses, jail houses,
investment houses, school houses, or our houses. We try to practice what we preach.
